Brule River, Northern Wisconsin
(brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout)
Brule River Trout“River of Presidents”.  The Bois Brule River is one of the region's great trout waters with resident trout populations as well as major spring and fall runs of trout and salmon. Its clear, spring fed water passes slowly through a conifer bog in its upper half and changes to a tumbling river, full of rapids, in its lower half before it empties into Lake Superior. The upper sections of the Brule River are open to artificial lures only.  Fly fishing either by canoe or wading for trout on Brule River is one of the best in the Midwest.  The water is spring fed and stays a consistent temperature throughout the summer months.
Wading – Walk in, get up close and personal with one of Nature's best trout stream. Fly fish every nook and cranny from bank to bank.
Float – Fly fishing from a canoe is a whole different experience.  For one thing you're moving and making quick accurate casts, but you get to see much more of the river.  You can also beach the canoe and do some wading on the major runs and holes.
