Spring is in the air in Northern Minnesota. Robins are everywhere, the lake ice is melting fast and most of all warmer temps. Getting new gear, cleaning up the old and stocking up on flies. Area lakes are opening up for some fantastic panfish actions on the fly rod. Great time to introduce someone or start learning how to fly fish.
I recieved my new Winston BIIMX 10wt in, what a beauty. Can't wait to pair it up with my Nautilus 10 CCF and some Rio Stiper line. Watch out muskies!
Since switching over to Rio, I've never needed to look back to past lines. Rio makes some great products and lines. They have a line that will tackle all your fly fishing needs, keep up the good work.
Since Rio is associated with Redington and Sage, I decided to give one of those Sub 8' foot rods a shot, namely the Redington's Predator 8wt. Known as bass rods or warmwater rods. These rods are under 8' feet. Scott, Sage, Ross and Redington makes these short sticks. Mainly intended for short, quick, accurate casting of bigger saltwater and freshwater flies. I decided to pull the trigger on Redington's Predator 8wt. I'll admit, I wasn't sure what to expect from this rod. After a few lawn casts, I'm really impressed and can already tell I will be doing a lot less false casting at short ranges. I will do a better review as the season goes on. I also got Redington's Rise 7/8 reel to pair up with it.
