What does being "U.S. Coast Licensed" mean?
Any business, including fishing guides and charters, needs an OUPV or commonly known as a "Captains License" to operate on Federal Navigable Water's, like the St. Louis River, Duluth/Superior Harbor, Lake Superior, and Chequamegon Bay. To obtain a license:

The license holder must pass drug testing exams and subjecting to a yearly random drug test.

Pass physical examinations.

Pass a USCG approved course and exam. (7 days course)
Hundreds of hours of on the water experience must be done before recieving a captains license.

License holders also need to take and pass a USCG approved Redcross First Aid and CPR course.
